More than half, 63% to be exact. That’s how Hexa Business is committed to empowering and choosing women for their workforce. But the story doesn’t only revolve around the fact the Hexa Business supports women. It’s about making a bold statement, especially for male-dominated ones—that women can lead and women can thrive, always.

The Global Workforce Gap

As one of the leading HR and outsourcing partners in the ASEAN region, Hexa Business is an ally of women to accelerate action for women advancement, especially in their career and professional lives. However, the fight for diversity, equity, and inclusivity for all women is always an uphill battle. There is a big gap between men and women in a global workforce over the years.

The recent report of the International Labour Organization revealed that the lack of women in the workforce in many industries and countries is deeply rooted in cultural biases, economic perspectives, and physiological preferences against women over the years. “The current global labour force participation rate for women is just under 47%. For men, it’s 72%. That’s a difference of 25 percentage points, with some regions facing a gap of more than 50 percentage points,” ILO said.

Celebration of Women

It shouldn’t be this way. Women deserve more. And the best way to change this reality is to act upon it. It is why celebrating women during International Women’s Day (IWD) and Month is important. It creates a ripple effect of organic and purposeful celebration to promote advocacy.

This year, the IWD theme is all about accelerating action and “taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality” for women. “Accelerate Action is a worldwide call to acknowledge strategies, resources, and activity that positively impact women’s advancement, and to support and elevate their implementation. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres,” IWD said.

In support of women’s celebration, Hexa is ready to share its story of how its women take the lead and occupy space. It is why the HR and outsourcing sector is a key industry player that stands for women and is an ally in promoting women’s rights.

Women Across Industries

Over the years, women are slowly and steadily rising in numbers in the global workforce as World Forum Economic revealed in their 2023 report citing LinkedIn on their research. In the report, it showed “persistent skewing in women’s representation in the workforce across industries” with Healthcare and Care Services with 64.7% increased and continuing to be a female-dominated field, while Education got 54.0%, and Consumer Services with 51.8%.

Meanwhile, the Government and Public sector is the sole area where men and women have a fairly balanced distribution of men across occupations “with women accounting for almost half (49.7%) of the workforce in 2023 (down from 50% in 2022)”.

Women are under-represented, however, in Retail (48.7%), Entertainment Providers (48.4%), Administrative and Support Services (46.5%), Real Estate (44.7%), Accommodation and Food (43.3%) and Financial Services (42.4%). Poorly represented, on the other hand, in sectors like Oil, Gas and Mining (22.7%) and Infrastructure (22.3%).

Women at Hexa Business

However, one of the industries that is women-led is the HR and outsourcing sector. Often underestimated but they serve as a backbone of every organization in the world. “Some experts see the overwhelming presence of women in HR as a welcome change from most other fields where men dominate upper-level management. Despite the stereotype that men hold all positions of power in HR while women simply carry out the more menial jobs, Sumser’s report found that women fulfilled two-thirds of executive positions in human resources,” said Bill Sand of Study.com.

For Hexa Business, it’s all about accelerating actions for women’s empowerment. 63% of Hexa’s workforce are female, 41.67% are on the associate levels, 14.58% are in senior and managerial roles, and 6.25% of women dominate the C-level and Directorial positions of the company. “Having women in leadership at Hexa fosters diversity, innovation, and balanced decision-making. Their perspectives enhance teamwork, boost morale, and strengthen our company’s reputation,” said Hexa’s Senior HR and Admin Executive, Clarisse Ramirez. “Promoting women in leadership also creates mentorship opportunities and inspires future leaders, helping Hexa grow and succeed.”

Outsourcing Reimagined for Women

As an HR and outsourcing business, Hexa understands the importance and power of diversity. Cultivating it empowers not only women but also everyone within the company. “Through their diverse insights into life, careers, and business strategies, women bring fresh ideas and make inclusive decisions that empower Hexa as a business.,” said Hexa’s HR Executive for Region 2 Linda Lestari. “An inclusive work environment is a factor that drives innovation, increases productivity, and is an important component of a company’s success on a global platform.”

Moreover, Hexa Business supports women’s personal and professional development through career advancement with its Employee Development Program that promotes leadership opportunities, training, and mentoring to help women advance in their careers.

“An inclusive and safe workplace is very important, especially for women, to ensure they feel valued, have a sense of belonging, and are respected and empowered. The company also ensures maternity support by complying with maternity leave policies and accommodating new mothers returning to work,” Ramirez added. “We proudly say that we practice, promote, and strictly observe a respectful and harassment-free work culture to cultivate a safe environment that fosters trust and confidence, benefiting both employees and the company.”
